History of GPX

 

After relocating to Gillette, I immediately thought about establishing an All-Star cheer team. It surprised me that cheerleading wasn't a common activity in the area, as it's something I've been passionate about since my youth. Eager to introduce cheerleading to Gillette, I began by seeking job opportunities at gymnastic gyms to gain experience. After two years of coaching gymnastics, I secured my first cheer coaching position. While coaching at Sage Valley, I felt the need to do more, so I started teaching 5-week programs at the rec center. Initially, my classes had 11 girls, but within a year, they consistently had over 20 participants, indicating Gillette's interest in cheerleading. Following thorough research, I crafted a plan and initiated the journey towards creating an All-Star cheer squad. In December 2015, Gillette Pink Xplosion was born – a modest start towards our success. After the inaugural season, we expanded to three teams and rebranded as GPX All Star Cheerleading. My goal for this program is to engage children of all ages in cheerleading as a fun physical activity. We have participated in numerous competitions and showcased our skills at local events in Gillette. In January 2023, we proudly opened our dedicated facility at 620 Hwy 14-16 Suite R in Gillette, WY 82716.
